Experiential Learning Faculty Ambassadors Program

As we prepare to enter our third year of VSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Trailblazing: Shaping the Undergraduate Experience through Undergraduate Learning, we are recruiting Faculty Ambassadors for the 2024-2025 academic year to support the QEP, QEP Coordinator, and the Experiential Learning Advisory Committee. We are seeking 5 Ambassadors who can represent not only their own department and college but who can also work with faculty outside their college. Faculty Ambassadors will receive $2300 for their work during 2024-2025. All permanent, full-time faculty members (tenure-track, tenured, lecturers) without previously established administrative reassigned time are eligible to apply.

Faculty Ambassadors are expected to:

  • Encourage faculty to incorporate experiential learning in their classes by obtaining QEP experiential learning endorsements for their courses
  • Serve as a resource available to assist faculty in their college with QEP Experiential Learning Course Endorsements or Experiential Learning Seed Grant (ELSG) Applications
  • Support the CELT-QEP Experiential Learning Certificate for VSU faculty development
    • Specifically, Ambassadors are required to 1) schedule two one-hour individual consultations with VSU faculty completing the CELT-QEP Experiential Learning Certificate and 2) assist CELT with updating the certificate’s curriculum, as needed
  • Participate in the evaluation of student written reflections  for QEP EL program or course activities
  • Evaluate and rank Experiential Learning Seed Grant applications
  • Serve in collaboration with the QEP Coordinator and Experiential Learning Advisory Committee to advocate for and strengthen experiential learning at VSU

Faculty Ambassadors will receive a $2,300 stipend for the 2024-25 academic year with the understanding that some final reporting will occur during summer 2025. Remuneration for Faculty Ambassadors is awarded and approved by the Provost in conjunction with the Dean of the College, depending on the resource and teaching needs of the college and institution. Faculty Ambassadors are eligible to apply to be a Faculty Ambassador in the subsequent year. Faculty Ambassadors cannot serve in the capacity for more than two consecutive academic years.
